Secular, Evidence-Based Clinical Approaches
Josh provides an easy-to-talk-to environment where clients can safely explore complex personal histories. While he offers biblical literacy and specialized experience unpacking spiritual harm or faith crises, he operates from a strictly secular clinical foundation. Sessions are entirely secular, focusing on evidence-based mental health practices. He meets clients exactly where they are, tailoring therapy entirely to individual goals without agenda or judgment—whether a client is transitioning away from a faith or working to remain safely within it.
His background includes a broad range of intercultural and spiritual counseling experience. Josh developed a nuanced understanding of cross-cultural dynamics and experience supporting the unique social and familial challenges encountered by individuals connected to insular or high-demand faith communities, including Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alongside this specialization, his clinical focus heavily encompasses supporting first responders and survivors of sexual trauma. Using evidence-based EMDR protocols, he helps clients safely process distressing past experiences, reduce active trauma symptoms, and build a grounded, resilient sense of peace.
Josh is accepting clients with Aetna, BCBS / Florida Blue, Aetna Better Health, Cigna, United Healthcare (Oscar, Optum, UMR, UBH), Sunshine Health Medicaid, Molina Medicaid, Community Care Plan, CHAMPVA.
